
Coach & Instructor Classification
Anyone aged 18 and over may become a coach or instructor and begin their pathway within the SAMBO Federation of Australia.
SAMBO Federation of Australia Pathway
The SAMBO Coach and Instructor Classification System defines a clear pathway for coaches and instructors to develop from club level to national and international recognition.
Progress is based on coaching activity, athlete results, participation in federation life, and ongoing professional development.

Classification Levels
Category C – Club Instructor / Coach
This is the entry level for coaches and instructors.
A Category C coach may be any competent coach who has chosen SAMBO as their main discipline and is actively:

- Studying and practising SAMBO techniques
- Teaching and training SAMBO techniques
- Attending seminars and competitions
- Paying membership fees and maintaining active membership with the SAMBO Federation

This level is intended for club-based instructors and coaches who are building their experience in SAMBO.
Category B – National Development Coach
Category B is awarded to coaches who:

- Regularly present their athletes at competitions
- Actively participate in the life and activities of the Federation
- Pay membership fees and attend official seminars
- Prepare athletes who achieve podium results at competitions
​
This level recognises coaches who are consistently developing competitive athletes and contributing to the growth of SAMBO.


Category A – National High-Performance Coach
Category A is awarded to coaches who have prepared gold medal winners at National Championships, regardless of:​

- Age category, or
- SAMBO discipline (Sport SAMBO, Combat SAMBO, or Beach SAMBO).

Coaches holding Category A status are eligible to:
​
- Participate in international coaching seminars
- Apply to upgrade their qualification to International Coach level
​
This is the highest national coaching classification within the SAMBO Federation of Australia.
International Coach Level
Coaches who successfully complete international seminars and meet international federation requirements may obtain the status of International Coach.

Allowing them to work and be recognised at an international level.
Who Can Become a Coach or Instructor?
- Any interested person aged 18 and over
​
- Must be an active member of the SAMBO Federation of Australia
- Must follow federation standards, ethics, and professional conduct
- Must participate in ongoing education through seminars and practical coaching
